Retreat, retreat!

July 20, 2009

Good grief, I’ve been neglecting the blog for so long that I’m lucky I remembered the password.  Sorry about that.

Over Fourth of July weekend, we attended couple of days of a weeklong annual retreat held by a group of long-time Bennett family friends.  It was a lot of fun, much like a big family reunion, and I enjoyed meeting people I’ve been hearing about for years, as well as showing off Patrick to a very appreciative audience.

The retreat was held at a tennis ranch (I say that as if it’s a common term, but I’d never heard of such a thing before), which made Patrick happy because there were tennis balls everywhere.

SAHM I am

January 19, 2009

But only on state and federal holidays.

I spent the whole day hanging out with Patrick, which I guess I haven’t done by myself in almost two months.  I had forgotten how challenging it can be to keep him entertained–sometimes the child has the attention span of a gnat–and to deal with the near total unpredictability of his schedule.  I suppose if I were home with him all the time, we would establish some kind of routine, but since I only get to do this every now and then, it makes for a pretty chaotic day.  Still, it was a real treat, and the frustration of a long day with a four-month-old is more than balanced out by smiles like this:
